Affinity Water originally requested a 3 day road closure however HCC has managed to condense the programme down to 1 night shift to reduce disruption to residents.
Home upgrade grants available for low-income households
East Herts Council is encouraging eligible residents to apply for new grants to fund home energy and clean heating upgrades.
The Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG 2) targets homes which do not access the gas grid for their heating. The aim of the programme is to tackle fuel poverty and make progress towards the UK’s 2050 Net Zero Carbon commitment.

East Herts Council Air Quality Action Plan Consultation
East Herts Council has now started a six-week consultation on its proposed Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) in fulfilment of its obligations to meet air quality objective limits under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 and to meet the requirements of the Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) statutory process.
The new AQAP for East Herts covers the period between 2024 and 2029 with the aim of improving air quality and reducing residents’ exposure to air pollution and outlining plans to effectively tackle air quality issues that are within the council’s control.
East Herts launches ‘Thriving Together’ to boost health and wellbeing
East Herts Council has launched ‘Thriving Together’, a draft plan for how it will work with residents and community groups to tackle critical issues such as isolation and loneliness, and help people feel better connected and able to enjoy activities that boost their health and wellbeing.

Consultation: new doctors surgery and 200 homes, Buntingford
We are about to commence our public consultation on the proposals to deliver a much-needed new Doctor’s Surgery on land north of Hare Street Road in Buntingford, along with approximately 200 homes.
